CLUB
NEWS
Club President Peggy
Koch was at the gavel today and welcomed all to our
Club's luncheon meeting. We met at Dimitri's Restaurant in Dining Room
A.
The Invocation and
Pledge of Allegiance were led
by Ron
Bryski who did a great job. This was followed by the
song, God Bless America, led by
Don Voigt, with
everyone participating and sounding pretty good.
Fellowship: Don Voigt was at the sign-in table today as our Sergeant-At-Arms and collected bucks for missing pins and badges. Don collected Happy Dollars from: Dave Baird for the excellent Stearn's Farm picnic; Mike Koler who was glad to be here today; Vita Schmidt for a wonderful vacation in Hilton Head and another for a great surprise 20th anniversary party arranged by her sons; Ron Bryski whose phone and computer system are now working after a week of no service from AT & T (hence no Roto-Tiller last week); Tim Graydon who went to Washington D.C. with his son, Harrison, and received a private tour of the West Wing; Terry Deis whose daughter, Megan, made the varsity soccer team; Peggy Koch for the Stearn's Farm picnic and another for her daughter turning 16; and Don Voigt for the Browns and the baseball Olympians and another for just being glad to be here.
TODAY’S
ANNOUNCEMENTS
-Stearns Farm Back to School Meeting & Cookout: President Peggy thanked Dave Baird, Pat O' Conner, Tam Schervish, and Rex Nash for their help in co-ordinating the cookout last Tuesday evening. 28 persons attended and had a nice time.
-Membership Roster: Club Secretary, Vita Schmidt, has prepared an updated membership roster (it has been e-mailed and hard copies are also available from Vita) but we would like to revise it once again to include a column for optional listing of cell phone numbers. Please e-mail Vita if you would like to include your cell phone number on the revised roster.
-Website Update: have you visited our Club's website at www.parmarotary.org lately? it's been updated and make sure that you take a special peek at all of the pictures from recent events; thanks to Dave Leuenberger for his special work and efforts.
-PolioPlus Update: As we begin this new Rotary year, RI's 20+ year drive to eradicate polio is stronger than ever. Our efforts are bolstered by the $100 million challenge grant that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded to Rotary in late 2007. As of 4/15/08 according to the WHO, the number of cases were as follows: Afghanistan/5; India/186; Nigeria/106; Pakistan/3; Non-endemic countries/13 for a total of 313. To receive an e-mail copy of the END POLIO NOW newsletter go to www.rotary.org/endpolionownewsletter to stay informed of our progress.

TODAY’S
PROGRAM
The Club viewed our Club's 50th Anniversary CD from PACT Channel 74. This was excellently produced by the students in our school system, co-ordinated by Parma Rotarian Kevin Brennan, and highlighted the events of our 50th Anniversary Year as well as giving a good general overview about our Club and Rotary International. Featured in the presentation were Parma Rotarians Dr. Sarah Zatik, Sharon Jones, and immediate Past President Ron Bryski.
With a side pot of $8.00 and a large pot of $457.00 and a deck of 21 cards, Peggy Koch was our winner today. She then pulled the 6 of Hearts. Sorry, Peggy, better luck next time. However, she donated her winnings back to the Club ...thanks Peggy! How about you? Are you feeling lucky? Why not give it a try!
Additional Drawing: Peggy Koch also won the M & M's Peanuts supplied by Don Voigt.
